Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by he formula (R and R' are alkyl). EXAMPLE:(+)4,4'-Di(2-methyl)nonanoylphenyl cyclohexylcarboxylate. USE:A liquid crystal composition, capable of assuming an enantiotropic liquid crystal state and useful as a material for optoelectronics-related elements. PREPARATION:A 2-methylalkyl alcohol is oxidized to provide a 2- methylalkylcarboxylic acid, which is then converted into an acid halide. The resultant acid halide is subsequently reacted with phenol to afford a 4- alkanoylphenol, which is then esterified with cyclohexyldicarboxylic acid to provide the aimed compound expressed by the formula.
