Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the load of a thrust bearing and to prevent the burning by using Meissner effect of a superconductor which constitutes a rotor coil opposed to the magnetic force of a permanent magnet provided on a fixed body. CONSTITUTION:A rotor coil 10 opposing to a stator 3 is constituted of the superconductors such as Nb3Sn, NbTi, etc., and cooled, then the superconductive state is obtained. A thrust collar 5 is housed in a bearing oil tank 6 in which the lubricating oil 7 is stored, a thrust runner 8 is immersed into the lubricating oil, then a thrust bearing 9 supports the load. A fixed body 11 is placed and provided on the lower part of the rotor coil 10 at specific intervals with the rotor coil 10, which is supported by a fixed section of a vertical shaft rotary motor. And, a permanent magnet 12 is provided on the surface opposed to the rotor coil 10 of the fixed body 11. The resistance loss of a rotor winding is reduced, and at the same time, the repulsion is produced between the rotor coil 10 and the permanent magnet 12 by Meissner effect, and the load of the thrust bearing 9 is reduced.
