Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the load of a thrust bearing and to prevent the burning by using Meissner effect of a superconductor provided on the surface opposed to a rotor coil of a fixed body. CONSTITUTION:A thrust collar 5 of a rotor coil 1 opposed to a stator 3 is housed in a bearing oil tank 6 in which the lubricating oil 7 is stored, a thrust runner 8 is immersed into the lubricating oil 7, and a thrust bearing 9 supports the load. A fixed body 10 is placed and provided to the lower part of a rotor coil 2 at specific intervals with the rotor coil 2, which is supported by a fixed section of a vertical shaft rotary motor. And, a superconductor 11 consisting of Nb3Sn, NbTi, etc., is provided on the surface opposed to the rotor coil 2 of the fixed body 10 and cooled, then the superconductive state is obtained. The repulsion is produced between the rotor coil 2 and the superconductor 11 by Meissner effect, and the load of the thrust bearing 8 is reduced.
