Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an apparatus of small size, lighter weight and little loss by forming a magnetic shield of a superconductor. CONSTITUTION:A superconducting electrical rotating machine is composed of a rotor 1 equipped with a superconducting field winding, an armature conductor 3, a spool 4, a spacer 5, an insulation to the earth 6 and others. In this case, there is provided a magnetic shield 21 where a superconductor is arranged in a thin-walled cylindrical shape, which shield is formed, for example, by an oxide superconductor such as Y-Ba-Cu-O. Thus, said magnetic shield 21 can prevent a magnetic flux from leaking to the outside of the magnetic shield by the Meissner effect of a superconductor.
