Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an oxide superconducting material having high critical temperature, narrow transition range and high critical current density, by mixing a Cu(III) compound to a hydrolyzed gel of alkoxides or acetylacetonates of specific group IIa elements and group IIIa elements of the periodic table and calcining the obtained mixture. CONSTITUTION:The alkoxides and/or acetylacetonates of (A) one or more kinds of elements selected from Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba among the group IIa elements of the periodic table and (B) one or more kinds of elements selected from Sc, Y and lanthanoids among the group IIIa elements are homogeneously mixed with each other in a solvent and hydrolyzed. The obtained gel is mixed with a Cu compound containing Cu(III) compound and the obtained mixture is calcined. The Cu(III) compound is e.g. Cu2O3 or Ba(CuO2)2.H2O.
