Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain easily a superconductor having superior superconducting characteristics by heat-treating a mixture of a specified oxidizing agent with a specified powdery oxide superconductor contg. alkaline earth elements, Cu, O, etc. or powdery starting materials of said oxide superconductor. CONSTITUTION:The title process relates to a process for producing an oxide superconductor of A-B-Cu-O type (A is a IIIa group metal element of the periodic table such as La, Y, Ce, Yb, Sc, etc.; B is an alkaline earth element such as Ba, Sr, etc.) or A-B-Cu-O-X type (X is halogen such as F, Cl, etc.). After mixing at least one kind of oxidizing agent expressed by CXOy (y is 1-4; C is an alkali metal element such as Na, K, etc.) with the powder or raw material powder of said superconductor, the mixture is heat-treated. When, for example, a Y-Ba-Cu-O type superconductor is to be produced oxides or carbonates of constituting elements for the superconductor, such as Y2O3, BaCO3, CuO, etc. are used for the raw materials of the superconductor.
