Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a superconducting material having high critical temperature, narrow transition range of the critical temperature and high critical current density, by using a Cu(III) compound as a raw material for a copper component of an oxide superconducting material containing a specific group IIa element of the periodic table, a specific group IIIa element and copper. CONSTITUTION:The objective material is produced by baking a mixture of (A) oxides and/or carbonates of one or more kinds of elements selected from Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba among the group IIa elements of the periodic table, (B) oxides and/or carbonates of one or more elements selected from Sc, Y and lanthanoids among the group IIIa elements and (C) a Cu compound containing Cu(III) compound. The Cu(III) compound is e.g. Cu2O3 or Ba(CuO2)2.H2O. The Cu compound containing Cu(III) compound may be the one composed solely of Cu(III) compound or may be a mixture of a Cu(III) compound and a Cu(II) compound [e.g. Cu(II) oxide or Cu(II) carbonate]. Preferably >=30% of the Cu atom is Cu(III).
