Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a superconducting ceramic having small resistivity at room temp. and improved critical temp. (Tc) by calcining a powder mixture of starting materials such as carbonate, hydroxide, nitrate, etc., of metal elements individually in O2 atmosphere, then calcining further a molded body obtd. by crushing the calcined product. CONSTITUTION:A powder mixture of starting materials forming oxides of metal elements such as carbonate, hydroxide, nitrate, halide, sulfate, or alkoxide of the metal element is mixed with water in a ball mill and dried after mixing. Obtd. dry powder mixture is calcined at, for example, 900 deg.C in O2-contg. atmosphere contg. 25-100vol.% O2. Then, the calcined product is molded after crushing using PVA as binder, and obtd. molded product is calcined in O2-contg. atmosphere contg. same vol.% O2 as described above at, for example, 900-1,200 deg.C. By this process, an aimed superconducting ceramic expressed by M2O3-BaO-CuO (wherein M is at least one kind among Tb, Gd, Eu, Sm, Nd, Pr, and La is obtd.
