Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance workability in plate making without causing deterioration of image quality of printed matters, by providing an under coat-layer comprising a dye between a base and a thermal recording layer. CONSTITUTION:An under-coat layer comprising an emulsifiable resin and a water-soluble dye as main constituents and a thermal recording layer comprising an inorganic pigment, a heat-fusible resin and a wax a main constituents are provided on a base. The under-coat layer preferably comprises a water-soluble resin in addition to the main constituents. The emulsifiable resin and the water- soluble resin in the under-coat layer are used as a binder, while the dye is used to visualize printing areas at the time of plate making, thereby enhancing workability. The amount of the dye used is suitably 1-20%, preferably 3-15%, based on the weight of the under-coat layer. The amount of the water-soluble resin used is preferably not more than 50%.
