Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a simple rear wheel steering mechanism by providing a parallel shaft slidably onto the slidable steering rod of the front wheel steering mechanism of a rack pinion type via an interlocking mechanism, and letting a rear wheel steering connection shaft be drivable via a rack formed separately. CONSTITUTION:A steering shaft 1a connected with a handle wheel 1 enables a steering rod 11 to be displaceable to the axial direction via a PS control valve by means of a rack pinion mechanism 12 so that front wheels 2 may be steered by a PS working cylinder 15, a tie-rod 13 and a knuckle arm 14. A parallel shaft 15 is made to be slidable through an interlocking mechanism 53 consisting of pinion gears 56 and 57 so that the connecting shaft 3 of a rear wheel steering mechanism is made to be drivable against a rack 52a formed separately via a pinion 52b. Owing to this constitution, the force of the PS working cylinder 15 will never actuate the connecting shaft of the rear wheel steering mechanism, thereby enabling the attempt providing the rear wheel steering mechanism which is small in size, light in weight and is mechanically simple.
