Abstract

PURPOSE:To stabilize the positive charge providing property of a carrier by using a vinylidene fluoride.tetrafluoroethylene-based copolymer as a resin forming a triboelectric charge controlling layer as the top layer of the carrier. CONSTITUTION:This carrier for providing positive charges to a toner is obtd. by forming a triboelectric charge controlling layer contg. a vinylidene fluoride.tetrafluoroethylene-based copolymer on a core material with an intermediate layer in-between. The molar ratio between vinylidene fluoride repeating units and tetrafluoroethylene repeating units as constituent units of the copolymer is 75:25-95:5. The copolymer content of the controlling layer is >=70wt.% and the pref. amt. of the copolymer is >=0.2wt.% of the amt. of the core material. The intermediate layer is preferably a layer contg. >=50wt.% styrene-based copolymer.
