Abstract
PURPOSE: To form two-color images through two times of development by the use of a one- component type magnetic toner by setting the absolute value of the latent image potential for the background potential of one latent image so as not to exceed twice the lower limit of the latent image potential at which the toner can be stuck and forming the electrostatic latent images.
CONSTITUTION: This relates to a method of forming the electrostatic latent images of 3-value levels suited for positive development and reversal development and developing these by using a one-component type magnetic toners of two colors, wherein the absolute value of the latent image potential for the background potential V2 of at least one latent image is so set as not to exceed twice the lower limit value of the latent image potential at which the toner can be stuck, by making use of the fact that unless the latent image potential exceeds the specific lower limit value the images are not developed, then at the time of developing the one electrostatic latent image, the development bias potential VB3 of the high level latent image is set between the potential of the other electrostatic latent image differing in charging polarities, for example, the low level latent image potential V1 and the background potential V2, and the two-color images are formed by two times of development.
