Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a sensitive body having superior environmental resistance and high electric charge retaining function by forming a photosensitive layer of hydrogenated amorphous silicon carbide on a support and laminating a surface electric charge blocking layer of hydrogenated amorphous silicon carbide and a surface protective layer of hydrogenated amorphous silicon carbide having different carbon contents on the photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive layer 12 of hydrogenated amorphous silicon is formed on the surface of a cylindrical support 11 of Al, etc., with a layer 14 hindering the injection of electric charges in-between. A surface layer 13 consisting of a surface electric charge blocking layer 15 of hydrogenated amorphous silicon carbide and a surface protective layer 16 of hydrogenated amorphous silicon carbide having different carbon contents is formed on the photosensitive layer 12. The carbon content of the blocking layer 15 is regulated to 0.2-0.6 and that of the protective layer 16 to 0.4-0.9. The protective layer 16 improves the durability and environmental resistance of the resulting sensitive body and the blocking layer 15 retains surface electric charges.
