Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an electrophotographic receptor causing no environmental pollution and having superior heat resistance, high surface hardness, superior wear resistance, etc. by forming an amorphous silicon photoconductive layer on an electrically conductive substrate by a glow discharge decomposition method.
CONSTITUTION: An electrically conductive substrate is set to a temp. of about 50W250°C, and on the substrate an about 10W60μ thick amorphous silicon photoconductive layer is formed by a glow discharge decomposition method to obtain an electrophotographic receptor. On the layer a less than several μ thick protective layer of silicon, acrylic resin or the like may be formed. By adding about 90W 160ppm of boron to the above-mentioned amorphous silicon the silicon exhibits properties practically as an intrinsic semiconductor, and the charge retentivity, dark attenuation coefficient, etc. are enhanced furthermore.
