Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a single crystal of high purity without quality reduction caused by leaching or evaporation of impurities in the carbon material at elevated temperature, by forming one or more of the graphite crucible, graphite heaters and graphite insulating cylinder from a high-purity graphite material of the total ashes regulated. CONSTITUTION:In the apparatus, at least one of the graphite crucible 1, graphite heaters 2, and graphite insulating cylinder 3 is made from a high-purity graphite of less than 5ppm total ash content, which is produced by firing, graphitized, and purifying under vacuum, as heated by the high-frequency method. The graphite is preferably isotropic or less than 1.1 anisotropy.
