Abstract

PURPOSE: To reprocess glass fiber waste easily without carbonizing a binder, and to use it, by bringing the crushed glass fiber waste into contact with a high- temperature gas so that the binder is burned.
CONSTITUTION: Glass fiber waste containing a binder is crushed, and brought into contact with a high-temperature gas containing oxygen. The oxygen amount of the high-temperature gas is ≥ about 7vol%, preferably ≥ about 10vol%, and the temperature of the gas is ≥ about 600°C, preferably ≥ about 650°C. The heating is preferably carried out by bringing the crushed waste into contact with the high-temperature gas while the waste was being made to flow. By this process, the binder can be removed completely in a short time by heating the waste even at relatively low temperature in an atmosphere having a low oxygen content.
