Abstract

PURPOSE: To decolorize the dust, which is generated for production of ferrosilicon alloy containing a specific quantity or less of carbon, by heating it at a specific temperature in the acidic gas atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: When the dust generated for production of the ferrosilicon alloy of ≤3% carbon content is heated at 300W800°C in air during about one hour and is cooled, the dust is completely white. However, in case of ≥3% carbon content, the decolorization degree is lowered. The dust decolorized in this manner can be used effectively in fields of fertilizers, building materials, expanded materials, and so on.
