Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove a trace mercury efficiently and economically without causing the secondary pollution by bringing nonferrous smelting gas containing mercury in contact with a carrier supporting a composite of Pb, Se and the like.
CONSTITUTION: A composite containing Pb, Se, Te, Sb, Bi and As in smoke and ash in smelting furnace is attached to be supported on an inorganic carrier such as alumina, silica or the like or the surface of coke or the like directly or using a binder. When the nonferrous smelting gas containing mercury is brought into contact with the carrier, a trace of mercury in the smelting gas can be removed very efficiently and economically without causing the secondary pollution.
