Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove a trace mercury efficiently and economically bringing a nonferrous smelting gas containing mercury into contact with a carrier supporting an electrolytic slime of intermediate product of smelting object.
CONSTITUTION: An electrolytic slime in which Cu, Se or the like exists in a single body or an intemetallic compound as a smelted intermediate product from a refinery is attached to be supported on the surface of an inorganic carrier of alumina, silica or the like or a coke directly or using a binder. When a smelting gas containing mercury passes therethrough, mercury is trapped away. Thus, a trace mercury can be removed efficiently and economically without causing the secondary pollution.
