Abstract

PURPOSE: A heat-evolving composition that contains an alkali metal sulfide hydrate or polysulfied hydrate, carbonaceous substance and calcium oxide, thus evolving a large amount of heat just when contact with air and giving high temperatures.
CONSTITUTION: Said composition compreses (A) and alkali metal sulfide hydrate or polysulfide hydrate, (B) a carbonaceous substance as corbon black or activated carbon and (C) calcium oxide wherein the content of (A) is 10W50wt%, (B) is 10W50wt% and (C) is 1W50wt%, totaling to 100wt%. The heat-evolving rate, duration time are controlled by the area contacting with the air, that is, the particle sizes of each component, the amount of the air flowing in. The amount of heat evolved by the composition is about 300W600cal/1g. of composition in the air and the maximum temperature reaching is over 400°C.
