Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve both superconducting and bending characteristics with uniform sintering of heat treatment by laminating a number of superconducting tape conductors into a laminated body, inserting the laminated body into a metallic pipe, and subjecting it to a wire drawing process and heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:A superconducting tape conductor 4 is formed by forming a superconducting basic layer 3 made by sintering powder or material powder of an oxide-based superconducting material on a metallic tape 2. A number of the tape conductors 4 are then laminated into a laminated body 5 which is inserted into a metallic, square cross-sectional pipe to manufacture a superconducting wire 1 by wire drawing process and heat treatment. This makes it possible to form the uniformly sintered superconductive layer 3 and, covering the laminated body 5 with a covering layer 6, to improve the bending characteristic of the superconductive wire 1. This makes it possible to improve the superconductivity of the superconducting wire and to improve the bending characteristic of the superconducting wire.
