Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the manufacture of a long-sized wire material having a high current density easier by applying a suspension containing dispersed powder of a ceramic superconductor around a wire material, heating and sintering them in an oxygen flow to form a superconducting layer. CONSTITUTION:Mixed powder containing yttrium (Y), barium (Ba) and copper (Cu) by the atomic weight ratio of 1:2:3 is crushed and dispersed in an alcohol solution to make a suspension. The suspension is then applied on the circumference of a stainless steel wire 2 and heated and sintered in an oxygen flow to form a ceramic superconductive layer 3 on the circumference of the wire 2. Over the layer 3 are further laminated a stabilizer layer 4 of copper plating, and an insulation layer 5 made by applying and firing an organic insulation paint to manufacture a superconducting winding wire 1. In this way it is possible to easily manufacture a long-sized ceramic-based superconducting wire having a high critical current density.
