Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the manufacture of a long-sized wire material having a high current density easier by applying a mixed solution which is to produce a ceramic superconductor when heated in an oxidizing atmosphere to the circumference of wire and sintering it in an oxidizing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:Mixed powder containing yttrium (Y), barium (Ba) and copper (Cu) by the atomic weight ratio of 1:2:3 is melted and cast in a reduction atmosphere. The material is then mechanically crushed and the powder is dispersed in an solution to make a suspension. The suspension is then applied to the circumference of a stainless steel wire 2, heated and sintered in an oxygen flow to form a ceramic superconductor 3. Over the circumference of the conductor 3 are further laminated a stabilizer layer 4 of copper plating and an insulation layer 5 made by applying and baking an organic paint over the layer 3 to manufacture a superconductive winding wire 1. In this way it is possible to easily manufacture a long-sized ceramic-based wire material having a higher critical current density.
