Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a wire rod with the high critical temperature and high critical current density at a low cost by storing a mixture of multiple kinds containing the elements capable of synthesizing an oxide compound superconductor in a coated tube with the double-tube structure of a copper net on the inside and silver on the outside, linearly face-reduction-machining it, and heat-treating it in the oxygen gas atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:Y2O3 powder, BaCO3 powder, and CuO powder are mixed with the mol ratio of 0.5:2.0:3.0 into a powder mixture 1, which is temporarily baked for 2hr at 900 deg.C in the air then crushed and further pulverized with a ball mill. It is stored in a coated tube 4 with the double-tube structure constituted of a silver tube 2 with the outer diameter of 14mm, inner diameter of 13mm, and length of 70mm and a copper net tube 3 with the outer diameter of 12.8mm, inner diameter of 11.0mm, and length of 70mm located on its inside, both end openings are sealed and drawing-machined to form a wire rod 5 with the diameter of about 0.5mm. The whole thickness of the coating material 6 of this wire rod 5 is 200mum, 10mum of which is a silver layer 7 and the remaining portion is a copper layer 8. The heat treatment is then applied for 24hr at 900 deg.C in the oxygen gas.
