Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は、ダイス裁断輪郭をもつ多層接合構造
の衛生ナプキンに関する。
米国特許第3881490号には、流出量の少ない月
経時期における吸収用としてのほか、非月経期間
においても下着の汚れ防具として用いられること
を意図した非常に薄い女性衛生用の吸収パツドが
記載されている。この特許のパツドは主として短
繊維の木材パルプ毛羽を空気成形して作つた薄手
の詰綿から成り、この詰綿は全体に縦方向に延び
て縁および端と交わる一定間隔を置いて印加され
た線状エンボス加工による水素結合で繊維間が結
合している。その端および縁は繊維が結合状態に
ないこととエンボス部の間にできたキルトに似た
枕部分によつて、クツシヨン状の表面と柔かい可
撓性に富んだ周辺部をもつ完成パツドが得られて
いる。
前に述べた通り、このパツドは本来流出量の少
ない月経時期の吸収用として、あるいは非月経期
間における排出液を吸収して下着の汚れを防ぐた
めに使用することを目的としているが、使用者の
多くはこのパツドが便利で快適なため通常の月経
期間中においてもこれを使用して月経液の全量を
吸収させていることが判つた。この目的で使用し
た場合、パツドはびつくりするほど大量の液を吸
収するけれども、短時間で浸透して液体がパツド
の端や縁に達し、下着が汚れる傾向があつた。し
たがつて、下着を汚さないようにするには、短時
間に多くの新しいパツドを取り変えることが必要
であり、また、薄手のパツドは体液が突然に流出
したとき、それがたまたまエンボス加工線によつ
て吸収されパツドの非エンボス部全体に分散した
場合でもその表面は湿ぽい感触を与える傾向があ
る。上記のようにいくつか欠点があるにもかかわ
らず、使用者の多くは薄手のパツトの快適性が優
れているため、比較的多量の月経液の流出がある
時期でも時々使用していることが判つた。薄手の
パツトはこのような望ましい性質を持つているた
め、消費者の多くは同様な快適性を有しながら同
時に高い吸収能力を有するパツトが得られること
に興味を示している。
これに応えて、薄手のパツトが持つている望ま
しい性質を保持しながら、すなわち薄手のパツド
と同様な柔かい縁部とクツシヨン状の表面を持
ち、かつ排出液の吸収能力が非常に大きく、安価
で単一構造のパツトという要求を満すものを開発
すべく多くの努力がなされた。
前述の薄手のパツドと同様エンボス構造を採
り、同時にパツド全体をもつと厚くすることによ
つて吸収能力を増加させるという試みがなされた
が、所定の単一構造を保つ十分な繊維結合にする
ために必要なエンボス圧力を加えて作つた製品は
剛く、板のような性質になつて、快適性がないば
かりか身体の外形にも十分適合せず、また下着へ
の座りも悪いことが判つた。また、多量の月経液
の流出があつた後では依然としてパツドの端や縁
に液体が浸み出ており、またパツトの全潜在的能
力は希望している程度までも使用されていなかつ
た。長期の着用または突然の液体流出時の湿ぽい
表面感触は依然として残つた。剛く、板のような
性質をなくするためエンボス加工の際に低い圧力
を使用した場合、得られたパツドは取扱いや使用
中に簡単に型くずれを起し、販売できる製品にす
るには不適当なものであつた。
このほか、前記の問題点を解決するためになさ
れた試みは、パツドの中央部分に多く繊維を有す
る中央が厚い外形になるように構成した詰綿であ
る。これを前述の薄手のパツドと同じ方法でエン
ボス加工をしたが、最初から厚さに高低があるた
め、過大な圧力を加えなければ良好なエンボス加
工は無理であり、必要なだけ高い圧力を加える
と、特に厚さのある中央部分が板のようになると
いう欠点が生じた。
このほか試みられたものには、別個に作つた薄
手の詰綿を従来通りにエンボス加工をして、次に
これも別個に作つた厚手のエンボス加工をしてい
ない詰綿を下に置き、接着剤で積層したものがあ
る。しかし、このような製品の製造において直面
する問題は、まず第１に、エンボス加工をしてい
ない詰綿を、内部に接着剤を使用することなく、
どのようにして良好な繊維結合状態にすれば良い
のかということである。何故ならば、接着剤は製
品の剛さを増し、浸透率を減少させるからであ
る。第２は製品の縁部が厚くなり過ぎ、快適性に
欠けることである。
最後の試みは、最上層に米国特許第3881490号
と同一の基本構造をもつ薄パツドを使用し、その
薄パツドの中央部を上方にふくらませて変形さ
せ、この丘状部の内部に別の厚パツドを挿入し、
最上層の外側の周辺部と挿入パツドの下でこれを
支持する最下層とを接合した複合構造にすること
によつて、高い吸収能力、柔かい周辺部、使用中
の乾いた感触、良好な快適性を持つ製品が得られ
ることがわかつた。
本発明は、上記の改良された構造の衛生ナプキ
ンを得ることを目的としている。
本発明による衛生ナプキンは、感触が良く、薄
く、柔かい、可撓性の、液体を通す最上層に、こ
れよりも小さくて厚手の液体保有能力の大きな中
間層と、薄手の液体を通さない最下層とを組合せ
てサンドイツチ状に作つたシート材料の接合層か
ら成り、ダイス裁断輪郭をした一般に長楕円形を
している。
ナプキンの最上層は、一般に毛羽と呼ばれてい
る木材パルプ繊維などの吸収性繊維を混合した薄
手の詰綿から成り、混合短繊維は一定間隔を置い
て詰綿全体に縦方向に延びて端や縁と交叉してい
る圧縮による複数の液分散用溝によつて結合され
ており、溝と溝の間には毛羽が結合していないキ
ルトに似たクツシヨン状のものができる。詰綿表
面の型くずれを無くし、かつ難起毛性にするた
め、詰綿の表面に別の薄手の不織布を付加しても
よく、あるいは詰綿の短繊維自体を不連続の薄い
接着膜で結合させてもよい。この最上層の中央部
分は、上方に変形され、そこが吸収パツドを入れ
る中空部になる。
ナプキンの中間層は、最上層よりも小さくて厚
手の吸収性パツドから成り、最上層の下に位置
し、前述した最上層のパツド入れ中空部の中に置
かれる。この中央パツドの上面は最上層の下面と
直かに接しているが、その側面の垂直部分や端面
は、近くにあるナプキン構成材料と接触していな
い。
ナプキンの最下層は、液体を透過させない性質
の薄手材料から成り、できればポリエチレンかま
たは同等のプラスチツク材料の薄い液体非浸透性
フイルムが望ましい。
これとは別の実施例として、液体を通さない薄
手の材料からなる最下層の上面に吸収性繊維から
成る薄手の詰綿を、そして下面には繊維性アプリ
ケ、不織布、薄手のポリウレタン・スポンジ、ラ
テツクス被膜等の滑り難くい材料を付加してもよ
いし、あるいはいずれか一方を付加してもよい。
最下層は、不連続の薄い接着膜によつて最上層
の周辺部に接着される。中間層を構成するパツド
の下面も同様に不連続な薄い接着膜によつて最下
層に接着される。完成したナプキンには、繊維が
全然ない空間が中間層のパツドの外側を取り巻い
ており、前記空間は中間層のパツドの縁および端
の垂直な面と、最上層と最下層とが接着接合され
ている外縁部との間を占めている。
以上述べた多層構造のナプキンを、これを保持
する下着に付着させるため、取外し可能な感圧接
着手段を少くとも１カ所ナプキンの下面に設ける
ことが望ましい。
さらに別な実施例では、着用したとき身体に良
く適合するように、完成ナプキンが長手方向にわ
ずかに凹んだアーチ状の外形をもつように製作さ
れる。
以下、本発明の利点および諸実施例を、図面を
参照しながら詳しく説明する。
本発明による多層構造の衛生ナプキンの好まし
い実施例の詳細を第１図ないし第４図に示す。図
から明らかなように、ダイス裁断輪郭をもつ衛生
ナプキン１２は、３枚のシート材の接合層、すな
わち身体に接触する細長の最上層１４と、これよ
りも狭く短かい厚手の中間層１６と、液体を通さ
ない薄手の最下１８とで構成される。
最上層１４は、木材繊維毛羽のような吸収性繊
維を混合した薄手の詰綿から成り、毛羽出ちのし
難くい表面１７を有する。この表面は、パツド自
身の表面繊維を適当な接着剤を用いて結合して作
るか、あるいは別個の液体浸透性不織布で構成し
てもよい。この最上層１４の表面には、一般に詰
綿の全長にわたつて縦方向に延び縁および端と交
わつている密集した繊維からなる溝１９が、一定
間隔を置いて印加されている。この圧縮による溝
１９は、適当な水分含量にして加圧する既存の方
法によつて生じた水素結合で結合している密集し
た繊維から成り、最上層に複数の強力な毛細導管
を付与する。従来から知られているように、密集
繊によつて生じた小径孔を有するこの毛細導管を
通つて、液体は圧縮されていない部分２０におけ
るよりも速やかに移動する。この圧縮されていな
い部分２０には、毛羽が結合していないキルトに
似たクツシヨン状のものができる。
圧縮溝は一定間隔のほぼ平行な線状エンボス加
工のものが図示されているが、縦方向に延びるこ
れとは別のエンボス模様を用いてもよい。その模
様は、ナプキンが使用中に曲げられる場合、直線
よりも容易に撓むことが判つている波状線の方が
好ましい。
第３図および第４図に示すように、最上層１４
の中央部は上方に変形されて細長のパツド入れ中
空部が成形されており、この中に厚い吸収パツド
の中間層１６が置かれる。
中間層を構成するパツドは、木材パルプの毛
羽、積層紙綿、木綿又はレーヨン繊維、セルロー
ズスポンジ、ポリウレタンのような親水性合成樹
脂スポンジ等を含み、吸収パツドに使用される公
知材料のいずれを使用してもよい。
本実施例では、薄手のプラスチツクフイルムと
して図示されている最下層１８は、最上層１４と
同じ外延をもち、中間層１６をなすパツドの外縁
のまわりで最上層１４と最下層１８の面と面が接
する部分に不連続に塗られた接着膜によつて最上
層１４に接着される。
特に第４図に示すように、中間層１６の上面は
最上層１４の下面とは直かに接し、中間層１６の
両側面２４と、最上層１４と最大層１８の周辺部
が重なつて接合している接触個所との間に空間２
６が形成され、同様な空間が中間層１６の両端面
の近くに形成されるので、中間層のまわりはすべ
て空間で取り巻かれている。
図に示した中間層１６は、不連続な接着膜によ
つて最下層に接着されているが、これは好ましい
実施例の場合であり、中間層１６の全周囲に広る
最上層と最下層の周辺部分が相互に接着接合され
ていれば、このように中間層１６を最下層に接着
することは必らずしも必要でない。
上記いずれの場合も、中間層１６の上面を最上
層の下面に接着してはならない。これは着用した
とき身体に対するナプキンの適合性が悪くなるか
らである。またここを接着することは、最上層か
ら中間層へ吸収した液を速やかに移動させるのに
若干妨げとなる。その上、中間層の上面と最上層
が接着されていないと、第２Ａ図のアーチ状に凹
んだ外形をもつ変更態様が簡単に作れるのであ
る。
中間層１６の両側面２４および両端面２５と、
最上層１４と最下層１８とが重ね合わされた接合
個所との間に作られた空間２６は、使用上重要な
役割を果す。すなわち、月経液がパツドの表面に
落ちた後、液体は重力によつて下方に分散し中間
層１６に移動する。中間層１６と衛生ナプキンの
周辺部分とは空間２６によつて物理的に接触でき
ないように隔られているので、吸収された液体は
中間層の中に封じ込められ、ほとんど浸出しな
い。したがつて、ナプキンの縁や端への液体の移
動がほゞ防止され下着は汚れない。
このように、従来の衛生ナプキンの多くが縁に
よる汚れを防止するために採用しているナプキン
周辺部の防水処理、または縁の近くに設けた液体
浸出防止層のいずれも使用しないで吸収した液体
の封じ込めに成功している。
第５図ないし第７図の諸実施例は、本発明によ
る衛生ナプキンの変更態様のいくつかを図示した
ものである。図中、第１図ないし第４図に示した
ものと同じように要素には同じような符号を使用
し、これらの要素の説明は、ここでは繰返さな
い。前述の第１図ないし第４図の実施例にはなか
つた種々の変更または新規な特徴については、以
下30番シリーズの符号を使用し区別する。
この改良衛生ナプキンの開発におて、新しいナ
プキンは非常に大きな吸収力を有し、また吸収し
た液体のほとんどを中間層１６の組織内に封じ込
めることに成功したが、月経液が繊維の密集して
いる液体導通用の溝でなく、盛り上つたクツシヨ
ン状のナプキン表面に液体が触れたときは、特に
これを表面から中間層へもつと速やかに移動させ
ることができれば、さらに望ましいものになるこ
とが判つた。この液体の移動は、中間層に直接通
じる漏斗状の孔３１を最上層の盛り上つたクツシ
ヨン部２０の中央に配置することで改善できるこ
とが判つた。
この孔の存在により、孔あるいはその周辺に落
ちた液体は重力によつて速やかに中間層１６の中
に分散され、孔３１を設けなかつた場合よりも表
面が乾いた感触になつた。この孔は必須なもので
はないが、いくつかの機械的な利点が得られる。
薄手の繊維詰綿３８を最下層の上面に付加する
ことによつて、ある程度吸収能力を増させること
ができる。
そのほかの特徴としては、反射率の低い、付帯
的に摩擦係数が大きい表面３２を最下層の下面に
付加すると、使用者にナプキンを美麗なものと感
じさせ、快適性を想像させる外観を与えることが
判つた。この種の表面は、繊維アプリケの使用、
フロツク加工、各種不織布の貼付、薄いスポンジ
層の使用などによつて得られる。
これ以外に、初めの方で言及した本発明に関連
する有用な特徴は、ナプキンの保持用下着へナプ
キンを付着させるため、その底に感圧接着手段３
３を設けたことである。この接着手段３３は除去
可能な通常の保護シート３４で被覆されている。
このような付着手段やその変更態様は、従来数多
く知られており、ここでは本発明のナプキンの有
用は変更態様のひとつとして言及するに止める。
第６図および第７図に示した層３２および３８が
付加されていない第１図ないし第４図のナプキン
構造にもこの感圧接着手段３３を採用し得るもの
と理解されたい。
さらに、本発明の改良ナプキンの利点は、ナプ
キンが低コストで大量生産に適していることであ
る。第８図はその製造装置の略図である。ナプキ
ン構造の各種の層を供給するロール材料をインラ
イン・システムで製造することは可能と考えられ
るが、ここでは予め製造したものである。第８図
において、供給ロール４１は予めエンボス加工さ
れた最上層１４、供給ロール４２は中間層１４、
供給ロール４３は最下層、供給ロール４４は付着
用の感圧接着剤と被覆シートである。
製造はおおよそ以下の手順で行われる。予めエ
ンボス加工された最上層１４は、供給ロール４１
から雌ロール４６に所定の形状の細長い凹部が設
けられている成形ニツプ４５を通つて供給され
る。成形ニツプ４５では、雄ロール４９の対向す
る凸部４８が最上層１４を凹部内に押し込む。こ
の操作によつて、最上層は上方に変形して中空部
が印加される。
同時に、中間層１６Ａの材料が回転カツターロ
ール５１の間に送られ、所定の長さのパツド１６
に切断される。このパツド１６は移動ベルト５０
で送られて、ニツプ５２のところで前述した最上
層１６の中空部の中に置かれる。一方、最下層１
８はロール４３から供給され、ロール４４から供
給される接着材料の連続ストリツプ３３とニツプ
５３を通るときに接合される。この感圧接着スト
リツプ３３を両面接着にして、自己の接着力で直
接最下層１８に接着させてもよいし、あるいは片
面接着にしてステーシヨン５４で接着剤を塗付
し、最下層１８の下面に接着させてもよい。
次に、ステーシヨン５５で最下層１８の上面に
接着剤の膜が不連続状に塗布される。他に適当な
接着剤を使用してもよいが、ここでは溶融型の接
着剤が望ましい。この接着剤は最下層１８の上面
全体に塗布してもよいし、あるいはナプキンの全
構成要素を組立てたとき中間層１６の周囲の外側
に広がる最下層の周辺部に合せた模様配置で塗布
してもよい。
所定寸法に切断された中間層１６のパツドを入
れた最上層１４と、接着剤が塗布された感圧接着
ストリツプ付の最下層１８とは、ニツプ５２で相
互に押し付けられ、最下層１８と最上層１４の周
辺部で中間層１６のまわりをシールする。次に、
このサンドイツチはベルトコンベヤ５６によつて
ダイス裁断機５７に送られ、所定の形状および寸
法に打ち抜れてナプキンができ上る。完成したナ
プキン１２はベルトコンベヤ５８を使つた包装部
門へ移送される。
ナプキン製造の際、最上層１４と最上層１８よ
りも大きな張力をかけてニツプ５２に供給する
と、ダイス裁断操作後その張力が消失したき、完
成したナプキンは第２Ａ図に示すように長手方向
に凹んだアーチ形になることが判つた。また、中
間層のパツドと最上層とが接着されていない事実
も、ナプキンが容易にこの形状になることを助け
ることは明らかである。その曲りの程度は製造中
最上層に加える張力の大きさによつて調整するこ
とが可能である。
アーチ形に凹んだ完成ナプキンの場合、最上層
１４の外縁は以然として最下層１８の外縁と相接
しているが、その縦寸法は最下層よりもわずかに
短かい。このように最上層の寸法が短かくなるの
は、最上層に残りの各層よりも大きな張力が加わ
るようにして製造されたためである。すなわち、
接合時点では最上層は伸長した状態にあつて、最
下層と同一の長さになつている。ダイス裁断後張
力がなくなると、最上層は無張力状態の長さまで
縮んで、ナプキンはアーチ形になる。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 １ 統一された表面輪郭をもつサンドイツチ接合
    層を、長楕円形にダイス裁断して成る衛生ナプキ
    ンであつて、前記サンドイツチ接合層は、排出さ
    れた体液を吸収し分散させる身体に接触する最上
    層と、吸収性材料でできた主要な液体保持要素で
    ある中間層と、液体が浸み出てくるのを防止する
    可撓性材料でできた最下層とから成り、 前記最上層は吸収繊維を混合した薄い詰綿から
    成り、この詰綿は液体が浸透し易い難起毛性の表
    面を有し、またこの表面には、その全長にわたつ
    て全体しとて縦方向に延びて詰綿の縁および端と
    交わる複数の液体分散用溝が一定間隔おきに形成
    され、これらの溝は相互に結合した密集繊維から
    成つており、更に前記詰綿の繊維のうち、前記難
    起毛性の表面の下側部分、および前記各溝の間に
    存在する繊維は、相互にほとんど結合していない
    状態となつており、更にまた、前記最上層はその
    中央部分が上方に変形され、この最上層と前記最
    下層の外周縁が相互に接合されて、これら両層間
    に細長いパツド収納用中空部が形成されており、 前記中間層は吸収性材料から成るパツドから形
    成され、このパツドはその上面が前記最上層の下
    面に密接した状態となるように前記パツド収納用
    中空部内に配置され、しかも、このパツドの外周
    側面と、前記最上層および最下層が接合されてい
    る前記外周縁との間には、前記パツドの外周側面
    を取り囲む繊維の存在しない空間が形成されてお
    り、 前記最下層は、少なくとも片側は液体を通さな
    い面になつており、 前記最上層および最下層の外周縁は、最上層の
    下面と最下層の上面との間に置かれた不連続の接
    着膜によつて接合されていることを特徴とする衛
    生ナプキン。 ２ 前記中間層を形成するパツドの下面が、不連
    続の接着膜によつて最下層の上面に接着接合され
    ている特許請求の範囲第１項に記載の衛生ナプキ
    ン。 ３ 前記最上層の表面のうち、前記液体分散用溝
    の間にある繊維が結合されていない区域および少
    くとも中間層の上にあたる区域内には、複数の漏
    斗状の孔が一定の間隔を置いて設けられている特
    許請求の範囲第１項に記載の衛生ナプキン。 ４ 前記漏斗状の孔が、中間層の上にあたる区域
    内にのみ配置されている特許請求の範囲第３項に
    記載の衛生ナプキン。 ５ 中間層の上にあたる区域に形成された前記漏
