Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 この発明は、蓄電池電槽に関し、特に電槽本体の側面を
横切って電極導出部材が配置された形式の蓄電池電槽の
構造の改良に関する。
第1図は、この発明をなす契機となった従来の蓄電池電
槽を示す正面図である。第1図を参照して、蓄電池電槽
1は、基本的には、電槽本体2と蓋3とからなる。M3
は、電槽本体2の上部に液密的に固着されている。第2
図は、第1図の線■−Iに沿う断面図である。第2図を
参照して、電槽本体2の内部には、電極および電解液(
図示せず)が収納されて、電池を構成しており、電極導
出部材4は、電槽本体2の側面より横方向に導出されて
いる。このような電極導出部材4が横方向に導出された
蓄電池は、特定の用途での電気的接続を容易にするばか
りでなく、電槽1内の電極からの導出に要する導電部拐
の長さが短縮され、電極材料を節約し、電池の電気的特
性を向上させ、また電池のa量化を図り得るという、様
々な利点を有する。しかしながら、逆に、電極導出部材
4が横方向に導出される構造では、電槽本体2の側面の
貫通部分が電解液と接触するため、貫通部分の液密効果
が強く要請される。
第3図は、第2図の円Aで囲まれた部分に相当プる部分
の、第1図の線ト」に沿う断面図である。第3図を参照
して、この形式の従来の蓄電池電槽の問題点を指摘する
。づ−なわち、従来の横方向に電極導出部材4が導出さ
れる蓄電池電槽1にJ5いては、電極導出部材4は、電
槽本体2の側面に孔5を予め形成しておき、この孔5に
鉛からなる電極導出部材4を嵌め合わせ、リベットのよ
うな方法によって、かしめることにより取付けられてい
る。なお、第3図の電極導出部材4の外側部分に形成さ
れたねじ孔4aは、蓄電池電槽1と外部とを接続するた
めのものである。ところで、この従来の蓄電池電槽1で
は、電極導出部材4は、上述のようにかしめ固定により
取付けられるものであるため、極めて多くの工程数が必
要であるばかりでなく、電極導出部材4の電槽本体2の
側面貫通部分における液密性に対する信頼性が極めて低
い。このような液密性に対する欠点を解消するために、
電極導出部材4と、電槽本体2の側面との隙間に接着剤
を充填することも実施されているが、なお−目工程数が
増加し好ましくない。さらに、蓄′1Iii他電槽本体
2を構成する材料としては、耐蝕性および耐熱性の点か
らポリプロピレンが有利に用いられているが、ポリプロ
ピレンは接着性が極めて悪い材料であるため、このよう
な接着剤の効果はあまり期待することはできない。
それゆえに、この発明の目的は、液密性に優れかつ安価
に製造し得る、新規な構造の蓄電池電槽を提供すること
にある。
この発明は、要約ずれば、上面に開口を有し、熱可塑性
樹脂からなる電槽本体と、この上面の間口を閉じるよう
に電槽本体の上部に固着された蓋と、電槽本体の側面を
貫通して配置される鉛からなる電極導出部材とを備える
蓄電池電槽であって、電極導出部材が、その外周面を熱
可塑性樹脂が取囲むように、成型金型内で成型されて電
極導出体を構成しており、電極導出体の樹脂部分と、電
槽本体側面の樹脂とを溶着することによって、電極導出
体が電槽本体に固定されている、蓄電池電槽である。す
なわち、この発明の蓄電池電槽では、電極導出部材は、
その外周面に熱可塑性樹脂が一体に成型された電極導出
体として準備され、その後電槽本体の側面に形成された
n通孔に溶着されて、固定されている。溶着は、たとえ
ば超音波溶接、スピンウェルディング、振動溶着、高周
波誘導加熱、おJ:び熱溶着などのような゛悌々な公知
の溶着方法によって実施され得る。好束しい実施例では
、電槽本体の側面に貫通孔とn通孔の周囲に形成される
環状突出部と′が設けられており、他方電極導出部材の
周囲に成型された樹脂部分に環状凹部が形成されており
、この電槽本体の環状突出部と電極導出体の樹脂部分の
環状凹部とが溶着されて固定される。もっとも、電槽本
体に形成される環状突出部および電南導出体に形成され
る1零状凹部は、いずれもこの発明に必ずしも必要な構
成ではないことを指摘しておく。すなわち、電極導出部
材の周囲に一体的に成型された樹脂部分と、電槽本体の
側面に形成された貫通孔とが溶着されて固定されてさえ
おれば、この発明を構成する。
また、この発明の蓄電池電槽本体および電極導出体の樹
脂部分は、好ましくはポリプロピレンで作られる。耐食
性および耐熱性の点で有利だからである。
以上のように、この発明によれば、電極導出部材は、そ
の外周面を熱可塑性樹脂が取囲むように、成型金型内で
成型されて電極導出体を構成しており、この電極導出体
の樹脂部分が、電槽本体側面の貫通孔に溶着されて固定
されているため、極めて優れた液密性を有する蓄電池電
槽を得ることが可能であり、かつ比較的小さな部品にす
ぎない電極導出部材の周囲に樹脂を一体成型し、かつ溶
着するだ番ノであるため、専用成型機は不要であり、従
来の設備のまま容易に実施できるため、極めて安価な蓄
電池電槽を得ることも可能となる。
以下、実施例につき説明する。
実施例 第4図は、この発明の一実施例を説明づるための側面断
面図である。電槽本体12の側面12aには、貫通孔1
2bが形成されている。貫通孔12bは、電極導出体1
4を受入れるために形成されているものである。貫通孔
12bの周囲には、外側に突出した環状突出部12cが
形成されている。他方、鉛からなる電極導出部材15が
、成型金型内に配置されで、その外周面を熱可塑性樹脂
が取囲むように、樹脂を注入し、電極導出体14を準備
゛4゛る。第4図から明らかなように、′Fi極導出休
1体は、中心に鉛からなる電極導出部材15を有し、そ
の周囲に熱可塑性樹脂層16を有する。
熱可塑性樹脂層16は、外周部に円1Fil壁17を有
する。この円筒壁17ど、円筒壁17の内側に存在する
壁面18との間で、環状凹部19が形成されている。こ
のような構造を有する別部品としての電tfi導出体1
4を、第4図の矢印X方向に移動して、電槽本体12の
環状突出部12Cが、電極導出体14の環状凹部19内
に嵌め込ませる。この状態で、電極導出体゛14の樹脂
層16と、電槽本体12の側面12aとを溶着する。そ
の結果、第5図に断面図で示すように、この実施例の蓄
電池電槽゛11が完成される。ところで、溶着に際し【
は、環状凹部19の底部と、環状突出部12Cの先端部
分とを溶着してもよく、あるいはその他のいずれの部分
で溶着してもよい。もつとも、熱溶着する場合には、作
業性の点から、環状凹部19の底部および環状突出部1
2Cの先端部分に熱板を当接し、加熱・溶融することに
より溶着が行なわれることが好ましい。また、高周波誘
導加熱により溶着する場合には、環状凹部19内に、導
電性材料からなる加熱源としてのリングを挿入した状態
で、高周波を与え加熱・溶着が行なわれる。
このリングは、加熱・溶着侵は環状凹部19内に残存す
ることになる。もつとも、上述のように、「溶着」の方
法は、この発明の必須め構成要素ではないため、様々な
公知の樹脂溶着手段が用いられ得ることを指摘しておく
。たとえば、電槽本体12および電極導出体14の双方
またはいずれか一方をスピン・振動させることにより、
あるいは超音波により振動させることにより、摩擦熱を
発生させて溶着してもよい。すなわち、スピンウェルデ
ィング、振動溶着および超音波溶着などを利用すること
ができる。

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 上面に開口を有し、熱可塑性樹脂からなる電槽本体と、
    この上面の開口を閉じる−ように電槽本体の上部に固着
    された蓋と、前記電槽本体の側面を貫通して配置される
    鉛からなる電極導出部材とを備える蓄電池電槽において
    、 前記電極導出部材は、その外周面を熱可塑性樹脂が取囲
    むように、成型金型内で成型されて電極導出体を構成し
    ており、 前記電極導出体の樹脂部分と、前記電槽本体側面の樹脂
    とを溶着することによって、前記電極導出体が前記電槽
