Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep a proper temperature of supply steam through every operating conditions in gland seal steam system by detecting seal steam temperature and regulating the flow rate at a water spray apparatus for cooling gland pipings.
CONSTITUTION: Seal steam which passes through gland pipeing 14 is supplied to seal steam supply section of shaft packing 5 at low pressure rotor 16. The seal steam temperature is detected by thermocouple 21. The signal S1 is calculated by comparison with a predetermined temperature at control apparatus 22 and transformed into signal S3, which regulates the flow control valve 23 of water supply nozzle 20, and cools the surface of the gland piping 14 covered by outer tube 19 to keep a proper temperature. Thereby, embrittlement, excess elongation differance, etc. of rotor shaft caused by gland temperature rise through every operating conditions including start up conditions can be avoided.
