Abstract
PURPOSE:To decrease the internal resistance, and increase the discharge performance of a silver battery by forming a graphite film on a part or the entire surface of a positive molded body containing silver oxide or silver peroxide used as an active material. CONSTITUTION:A film 7 made of a graphite is formed on a part or the entire surface of a molded body 8, which is obtained by molding a positive mixture prepared by mixing a binding agent with silver oxide or silver peroxide used as an active material, thus a positive body is obtained. For instance, a mixture of silver oxide used as an active material and sodium polyacrylate used as a binding agent is added and mixed with water, the mixture is granulated to make a positive mixture, and the positive mixture is pressed and molded into a molded body 8. After that, a plate-like graphite 7 with a given thickness is affixed on the upper surface of the body 8. By the means mentioned above, since the positive mixture doesn't contain any graphite used as a conductive agent, the former silver oxide used as the active material is not decomposed, and any gas generation which might be caused due to the decomposition of silver oxide is prevented. Consequently, the discharge performance of a silver battery can be increased by improving the conductivity of the surface of the positive body, and any shift of the active material grains can be prevented.
