Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the cost without causing any deterioration to its performance by employing the combination of silver oxide and nickel oxyhydroxide. CONSTITUTION:Nickel oxyhydroxide, graphite and a small amount of electrolyte are mixed and dried, and the mixture is packed in a positive-electrode case 1 to form a mixture base 2. Next, silver oxide and graphite are mixed, and the mixture undergoes compression moulding, before the moulded mixture is placed on the base 2. At the same time, a ring 3 is inserted in the positive-electrode case 1, thus forming a part 4 that contacts with a negative electrode 8. Here, the former positive mixture desirably should be an active material consisting of 90-70% of nickel oxyhydroxide and 10-30% of silver oxide. In addition, it is preferred to add 10- 20% of graphite to nickel oxyhydroxide and 0-5% of graphite to silver oxide.
