Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an iron sintered-body with a long life which provides a high capacity-maintenance, by subjecting an iron sintered-body with a high porosity to plating before the plated sintered-body is compressed so as to make that to have an appropriate porosity for packing active materials, and by thus performing uniform plating. CONSTITUTION:Long iron fibers with a fiber-diameter of, for example, 30-40mu are cut into a length of 10-20mm.. The thus obtained fine short iron fibers are piled one upon another at random to be laminated. The laminated iron fibers are sintered, for example, in an atmosphere of hydrogen at 900 deg.C for 30min, an iron sintered-body with the porosity of 96% being prepared. After that, the iron sintered-body is subjected to nickel-plating, and the porosity of the iron sintered-body is reduced to be about 95% because of the adhesion of nickel. The nickel-plated sintered body made of iron, at the end, is compressed and molded, a conductive grid with the porosity of 91% being obtained.
