Abstract

PURPOSE: To arbitrarily discharge molten glass by a necessary amount at a necessary time by attaching a glass outflow pipe made of resistance heating element and provided with an induction coil for heating and a cooling pipe at the outside to the bottom of a glass molting furnace and by setting a sliding plate device at the lower end of the pipe.
CONSTITUTION: An outflow pipe 5 discharging molten glass 4 is attached to a crucible type glass molting furnace 1 so that it pierces the bottom wall 2. The pipe 5 is made of resistance such as platinum, "Inconel", platinum alloy or Mo alloy, or nonmetallic resistance heating element such as SiC or graphite, and a resistance heating element is also attached to the inside of the outflow hole 8 of the wall 2. The pipe 5 is provided with a high frequency induction coil 9 and a cooling pipe 10 at the outside, and a sliding nozzle composed of a fixed plate 13, a sliding plate 16 and a device 18 for working the sliding plate is attached to the tip of the pipe 5. By driving the device, molten glass 4 in the furnace 1 can be discharged surely and rapidly by a necessary amount at a necessary time.
