Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the wear resistance and lubricity of a sintered Fe alloy by providing a composition consisting of C, Cu, Sn, Pb and the balance Fe and a structure contg. free carbon or Pb and Pb alloy dispersed in the matrix.
CONSTITUTION: This sintered Fe alloy has a composition consisting of, by wt., 0.5W6% C, 0.8W4.6% Cu, 0.08W0.6% Sn (1W5% Cu+Sn), 0.1W5% Pb and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and it has a structure contg. free carbon and/or Pb and Pb alloy dispersed finely and uniformly in the matrix composed of partial pearlite and most ferrite. This alloy has superior wear resistance and lubricity, and it is suitable for use as a sliding member.
