Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain coke for blast furnace, which has sufficient strength, by mixing a plurality of kinds of briquetted coal having different strength together, whereby most of briquetted coal having lower strength is broken during the transportation of the coal to a coke oven and a lowering in the bulk density of an apparatus is lessened.
CONSTITUTION: A binder is added to raw coal to be briquetted. The mixture is kneaded and briquetted under pressure. In this manner, at least two kinds of briquetted coal having standard strength and briquetted coal having lower strength are prepared. These briquetted coal are added to blended coal to produce charging coal which is then dry-distilled. During the transportation of the coal to a coke oven, part of these two or more kinds of briquetted coal is broken. The coal in the original briquetted form, in a broken form and in a powdered form together with the blended coal are introduced into the oven. Thus, air gap between the briquetted coal formed during the blending of the briquetted coal is reduced, coal particles are easily charged into the air gap, and a lowering in bulk density and coke strength is lessened.
