Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain reformed coal suitable for use as the raw material for the production of coke for blast furnaces, by a method wherein the ground product of low-grade coal is divided into a coarse-ground coal part and a fine-ground coal part, a binder is added to the coarse-ground coal part, the mixt. is kneaded with heating, the fine-ground coal part is added to the resulting kneaded mixt., and the resulting mixt. is kneaded.
CONSTITUTION: When a binder is added to the ground product of low-grade coal and the mixt. is kneaded with heating to produce reformed coal, the ground product of the coal is divided into a coarse-ground coal part and a fine-ground coal part. A binder is added to the coarse-ground coal part. The mixt. is kneaded with heating at a temp. of 100W150°C for 5W15min to deposit the binder uniformly on the surface of the coarse-ground coal particle. The fine-ground coal part is added to the kneaded mixt. The resulting mixt. is kneaded under heating at a temp. of 100W 150°C for 5W30min to deposit the fine-ground coal particle on the surface of the coarse-ground coal particle covered with the binder. The binder is uniformly dispersed in the ground product throughout, e.g. by local agglomeration of the binder, and thus reformed coal of excellent quality can be obtd.
