Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the bulk density of substance (coal) to be charged in a coke oven by a method in which a hard molded coal and a soft molded coal are manufactured as molded coals for mixing with raw material coal, and the soft molded coal is naturally pulverized during feed process to obtain a grain size distribution with lesser intermediate grain size.
CONSTITUTION: A binder is added to a pulverized coal for molding and then molded by compression into a given grain size of molded coal, and then the molded coal obtained is mixed with raw material coal in a proper proportion and then charged into coke oven. In this case, a hard molded coal and a soft molded coal, each having different mechanical strengths, are manufactured and these molded coals are mixed during the feed process to the carbonization chamber of the coke oven and at the same time the soft molded coal is mainly naturally pulverized to obtain coal of a grain size distribution with lesser intermediate grain size; that is, the large size fraction of 2/3 or more of the grain size of the molded coal becomes 5W80wt%, the small size fraction of 2/9 or less of the grain size of the molded coal becomes 25W85wt%, and the remaining becomes an intermediate fraction of 2/3W2/9 of the grain size of the molded coal. Thus, the bulk density of the substance (coal) to be charged in coke oven can be increased.
