Abstract

PURPOSE: Powdery coal is previously mixed with an oil or surfactant and they are blneded with formed coal to produce coke for blast furnaces, whereby the local precipitation of the formed coal in the blast furnace is prevented to stabilize the quality of coke and increase the amount of formed coke.
CONSTITUTION: Bituminous coal is taken out of the tank 1 and mixed in a mixer 2 to prepare a coal composition 10. A part of the coal composition is combined with an oil or surfactant from the tank 3 and they are thoroughly mixed in the mixer 4 to form a mixed coal containing more than 5% water. In the meantime, the rest of the coal composition 10 is kneaded together with nonbituminous coal from the tank 5 as well as a binder for forming from the tank 6 in the kneader 7 and formed with the machine 8 into formed coal 13. Then, the formed coal and the mixed coal 12 are blended in the blender 9 to produce the coal for charging to the coke furnace.
