Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare high-quality metallurgical coke, by mixing granular coal to the kneaded or briquetted mixture of coal powder, low-grade coal and bitumen, and carbonizing in a coke oven.
CONSTITUTION: Pulverized coal powder is separated into (A) fine coal powder and (B) granular coal preferably with air stream, and the fine coal powder (A) is mixed with low-grade coal. The mixture is kneaded with 1W30wt% bitumen, and with or without briquetting, mixed with the granular coal (B). The objective coke can be obtained by carbonizing the mixture in a coke oven. The border size of the granular coal and the coal powder is preferably 0.5mm, and the bitumen to be added to the coal powder (A) is preferably the one having an H/C ratio of 0.50W1.90 or a softening point of <300°C. When the size of the briquette coal to be mixed to the granular coal (B) is too large, it is necessary to crush the coal to a maximum particle size of about 40mm.
