Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the content of an low-rank coal, by blending a finely divided low-rank coal with a caking agent consisting of a molten bituminous substance having a specified viscosity in specific ratio, by grinding the cooled blended coal into divided coal of regular particle sizes, and by carbonizing the blended divided coal mixed with charging coal.
CONSTITUTION: A bituminous substance is sent from the tank 1 to the device 2 for producing a caking agent, where it is changed into a molten material having viscosity not more than 300 centipoise at 200W400°C to give a caking agent, which is sent from the weighing machine 3 to the blender of coal 5, where 80W50 parts by wt. of a finely divided low-rank coal from the storage tank of coal 4 is blended with 20W50 parts by wt. of the caking agent. The blended coal is then cooled to not higher than 25°C and solidified. It is ground by the revolving crusher 6 into blended devided coal of regular particle sizes (the ratio of the blended devided coal whose particle size is not more than 3mm is 70W85 wt.%), stored in the storage tank 7, and transferred through the metering feeder 8 to the blender of coal 9, where 95W80 parts by wt. of a preblended divided coal for coke from the storage tank of coal 10 is mixed with 20W5 parts by wt. of the blended divided coal to be carbonized in a coke oven.
