Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent inclusion of powder by immersing baffle plates, which are provided opposite respectively to sandwiching wall directions with an immersion nozzle in- between, in molten metal in such a way that the bottom ends thereof are located below the molten metal surface by more than a specific distance and above the initial molten steel discharge flow region from the discharge port of the immersion nozzle.
CONSTITUTION: In a continuous casting method by powder casting, baffle plates 6 which are provided respectively opposite to sandwiching wall directions with an immersion nozzle 1 in-between, are immersed in the molten metal in a mold in such a way that their bottom ends are located below the molten metal surface by ≥20mm and in the positions upper than the initial molten steel discharge flow region from the discharge port 2 of said nozzle 1. Therefore, the molten steel flow F1 from the hole 2 f alls onto the front surface of a solidification layer 4 solidified on the front surface of a mold 3 and is divided to molten steel flow F2 and molten steel flow F3.
