Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the blow-out of molten steel through junctures or the migration of slag and to improve yields by mounting a scale breaker to a long nozzle at the exchanging stage of ladles, immersing its bottom end under the molten metal level of a tundish and teeming molten steel.
CONSTITUTION: In immersing the bottom end of a cylinder 10 of the scale breaker of a long nozzle 3 into the molten metallic level 12 of a tundish, a steel sheet 11 is mounted to prevent the entry of slag 5 into the cylinder 10.
