Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the blow-out of molten steel through junctures or the migration of slag and to improve yields by mounting a scale breaker to a long nozzle at the exchanging stage of ladles, immersing its bottom end under the molten metal level of a tundish and teeming molten steel.
CONSTITUTION: In immersing the bottom end of a cylinder 10 of the scale breaker of a long nozzle 3 into the molten metallic level 12 of a tundish, a steel sheet 11 is mounted to prevent the entry of slag 5 into the cylinder 10. At this time, a rack 13 is provided to prohibit flating of the cylinder 10. If at the exchanging stage of ladles the bottom end part of the long nozzle of at least 20mm or above is immersed below the molten metal level of the molten steel in the tundish and the molten steel is teemed, the increase in the inclusions in the ingot owing to the below-out of the molten steel between the junctures of the nozzle 3 and the scale breaker 10 or the migration of the inclusions by the molten steel flow is prevented.
