Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent migration of slag into the molten steel in a tundish by providing a frame for expelling the ladle slag in the molten steel receiving part of the tundish and teeming molten steel from a ladle into said frame. CONSTITUTION:In performing multiplex continuous casting, a frame 11 which is made of refractory material, for example, steel plates, for preventing migration in of slag and is mounted with a circular conical cap 12 at the leading end is provided in a steel receiving part of a tundish 1. The frame 11 is inserted down to below the surface of molten steel 9 through the ladle slag 6 of previous charge floating on the surface of the steel 9 while conducting support bars 13 by means of guides 14 on the inner side of an ingate 4 in the steel receiving part of the tundish. In the process of insertion, the cap 12 expels the slag 6 on the surface of the steel 9 to the outside of the frame 11. If the molten steel is teemed from the ladle in this state, the direct contact of the inflow flow and the slag 6 is eliminated and the migration of the slag 6 is eliminated.
