Abstract
PURPOSE: To effectively float contained inclusions by placing an intermediate ladle provided with a lower weir and an upper weir successively between a ladle and a mold and horizontally moving the rectified laminar flow after the passage of the upper gate for more than a specified length at lower than a specific speed then pouring the same into the mold at the time of pouring the molten steel from the ladle to the mold.
CONSTITUTION: When a lower weir 4 and an upper weir 5 are provided successively to an intermediate ladle 1, the bottom flow A formed by the pouring flow of molten steel is shut off and turns to ascending flow B. Stirring motion is formed by this ascending flow B and the coalescence of the inclusions contd. in the molten steel is accelerated and are floated up by increasing buoyancy, until they are adsorbed on a slag layer 7. While the molten steel passes this upper weir 5 and reaches a pouring port 3, the residual inclusions assume the rectified layer E in which they are easy to float. However, the effect thereof is guaranteed by securing more than 600mm distance of the rectified laminar flow E at a ≤8cm/sec speed. Here, the velosity of flow is calculated by the velocity of flow of the rectified laminar flow (cm/sec) = rate of pouring (cm3/sec)/the average sectional area (cm2) of the intermediate ladle at a minimum molten steel level.
