Abstract
PURPOSE: To surely float and remove various inclusions on molten metal with simple constitution by providing an ingate on the bottom surface in the width direction of a molten metal vessel between the mutually spaced pouring-in and out positions of the vessel and burying porous bricks permitting spouting of an inert gas in the entire region of the projecting end thereof.
CONSTITUTION: An ingate 5 of a predetermined projecting height is provided in the perdetermined position between molten metal pouring-in and pouring-out nozzle positions 1, 3 within a molten metal vessel TD which pours molten metal poured therein from above such as a tundish out into other vessel or mold. Porous bricks 6 are buried inert gas spoutably in the entire region in the longitudinal direction (coinciding with vessel width direction) of this projecting end part 5a. In this manner, the molten metal flowing along the vessel bottom surface B turns to upward flow by the ingate 5 and an inert gas such as Ar is spouted upward into this upward flow through the bricks 6. This causes said upward current to be uniformly agitated over the entire width thereof, thus the inclusions in the molten metal may be floated and removed with an exceedingly small amount of inert gas blow without distrubing the slag layer on the molten metal surface in the upper part of the blowing position.
