Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent rushing of dropping molten metal in pouring basin deeply and to flow in horizontal direction, by floating the molten metal pouring basin maintaining the stability of the molten metal receiving basin.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal receiving basin made in optional figure using heat insulating material having a lower specific gravity than molten metal, is placed on the bottom of mold before pouring of casting ingot. When the molten metal is dropped on the centroid part of the above basin, the basin is risen accompanied by the progress of pouring and the molten metal is floated on the upper face of pouring basin of the molten metal. Dropped molten metal is placed on the upper face of the basin once and air is made easy to exhaust because of getting to a shallow mass body and the above metal is flowed in the mold in degassed state. On this occasion, produced degassed product or nonmetallic fine grain contained in the metal, is exhausted also. Further, the molten metal is poured by the laminar piling method because the head from the upper face of the basin to the pouring basin is nearly none and temperature gradient being high in the upper part and low in the lower part, is formed. Hereby, sound and homogeneous steel ingot is obtained.
