Abstract

PURPOSE:To teem molten metal into a mold without the intevention of a nozzle and increase the speed of casting by charging the molten metal from above an inclined throughlike body, allowing the same to flow down in a cooling part by flowing over in ingate, and teeming the same directly into the mold from a lower overflow part. CONSTITUTION:First, a cylinder 6 is operated to adjust the angle of inclination of a throughlike body 3, and an inert gas is ejected through respective pipes 10 into the body 3. Next, molten metal 12 of high temp. is charged from a tundish through an accepting port 5a to the end part on the upper side of the body 3. Then, the molten metal 12 is once accepted by an ingate 9, and is regulated of flow. The molten metal 12 flowing over the ingate 9 flows down on a bottom plate 3a by forming a thin layer. At this time, the molten metal 12 is cooled by a cooling box 11, and is stirred by an electromagnetic stirrer, whereby its cooling to uniform temp. is accelerated. The molten metal 12 is once accepted by a bottom end wall 3c, flows over the wall 3c, and is teemed into the space between both rolls 2 revolving in a low temp. state, whereby it is cast continuously to a thin walled ingot 12a.
