Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable gas to be repeatedly blown into a refining container by clogging the tops of the through holes of a plurality of gas blowing bottom nozzles of the container with a filler; pouring molten metal into the container; blowing the gas from an arbitrary nozzle; and using other nozzles in order after discontinuing the blowing.
CONSTITUTION: Nozzles 6, 6 are attached to the bottom of ladle A, and filler B consisting of MgO clinker 8 and silica sand 9 is mounted on the tops of nozzles 6, 6. Molten metal roughly decarburized in an electric furnace is poured into ladle A, and Ar gas 5 or the like is blown from through hole 7 of one of nozzles 6, 6 in a vacuum tank, whereby filler B floats immediately. By reducing the gas press. to zero in the blowing, part of the molten metal flows into hole 7, yet it solidifies immediately to clog hole 7.
