Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the yield of Al and make the floating of Al2O as deoxidation product easy by making the basicity of molten slag 2.5 or more in an inert gas atmosphere and blowing Al powder directly into molten steel with a lance by inert gas at the time of adding Al into the molten steel in a ladle.
CONSTITUTION: Molten steel A is put in a ladle 1 which is then put on with a cover 3. The inside of the ladle is made of inert gas atmosphere and the basicity of molten slag B is controlled to 2.5 or more. Inert gas such as Ar is blown into the molten steel Al with a lance 2 through conduit 5 and at the same time powder-form Al is blown into the molten steel by Ar at ratios of 10W30kg/min. Since Al directly enters the inside of the molten steel A without making contact with air and molten slag B, de-oxidation action is accomplished at a high yield and it melts and remains in the molten steel with less variations within a range of 0.018W0.03%. The molten slag B is of 2.5 or more in basicity and the oxidation of Al from the molten steel at the interface is less. In addition, the Al2O3 of the deoxidation product is rapidly floated by bubbling of Ar gas and enters the inside of the molten slag B, whereby the molten steel is clarified.
