Abstract

PURPOSE: To join a superhard alloy material firmly to a metallic base material by heating the superhard alloy deposited with a nickel layer to diffuse cobalt in the nickel layer than performing brazing of the metallic surface of the base body in a vacuum furnace.
CONSTITUTION: In the case of joining a superhard alloy contg. cobalt to a base body of other metal, this superhard alloy is beforehand molded and is subjected to regular sintering, whereby the joining surface for the base body metal 1 prepared. If a nickel layer is plated on the joining surface prepared in this way, and is subjected to diffusion treatment in a reducing furnace contg. gaseous atmosphere, the cobalt which is a binder in the superhard alloy diffuses in the surface nickel layer. The superhard alloy material having the nickel layer carried out with such diffusion treatment is brazed to the metallic surface of the base body. The superhard alloy is a WC-Co type superhard alloy tip, and the base body joined with this is steel which is subjected to brazing simultaneously with hardening of the steel.
