Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the adhesivity of precious metal plating by applying Pd (alloy) plating to a base metal such as stainless steel or the like through a gold strike plated layer and the plated article undergoes heat treatment in vacuum or the like.
CONSTITUTION: A gold strike plating layer is applied on the base metal of stainless steel or Ni-based alloy used for case parts of a wrist watch or the like and a Pd or Pd alloy plating is formed on the layer. The product is subjected to a heat treatment above 400°C in vacuum or in an inert gas atmosphere. This removes internal stress of these decorative parts while improving the adhesivity of the plating with a heat diffusion.
