Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce production steps and obtain a large-sized display panel having uniform liquid crystal thickness by coating a high polymer soln. dispersed with spacer materials on substrates to form a film then rubbing the same thereby forming oriented films. CONSTITUTION:After transparent electrodes 2, 2 are formed on transparent substrates 1, 1, a soln,. of a polyimide, epoxy or silanol polymer dispersed with sapcers 4 consisting of glass fibers, alumina or polystyrene of prescribed grain sizes is coated and is heated, whereby oriented films 3, 3 are formed. The films 3 are subjected to orientation treatment by rubbing, after which a sealing resin 5 dispersed with spacers 6 is coated on the substrates 1, and the substrates are assembled, thence a liquid crystal 7 is sealed therein, whereby a display panel is manufactured. Thereby, the large-sized panel of uniform liquid crystal thickness is obtained with good productivity without using substrates of particularly good smoothness or without using any special techiques of parting the inside of the liquid crystal panels into a number of cells.
